Bacon Braised Green Beans

On my most recent trip back home to Nebraska, Dad pulled out all the stops (as usual) making beer chicken and these amazing bacon braised green beans. I dare any of you who don’t care for green beans to try these out. After all, bacon makes everything better, right?

What you’ll need:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 6 slices bacon, diced
  • 1 cup thinly sliced onion
  • 2 tablespoons sliced garlic
  • ½ bag (5 oz.) of french cut style frozen green beans
  • ½ bag (5 oz.) of frozen broccoli slaw
  • 1 cup stock (chicken, beef, vegetarian)
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • other seasonings to taste
  1. Over medium heat, add olive oil to a dutch oven or deep fry pan.
  2. Add the bacon and cook until it’s browned.
  3. Add the onion + garlic and cook just until the onion is translucent.
  4. Add the green beans and broccoli slaw and toss to mix everything together.
  5. Turn the heat up to medium high and add your stock.
  6. Once the stock boils, put the lid on your pan and cook the beans for 5 minutes.
  7. Remove the lid and season with whatever you like, including the s+p and mix well and let any remaining liquid cook off.
  8. Serve as a side dish and enjoy!
